Obama did 9/11?
In the introduction of Critical Media Studies, we are informed on what we learn and how we learn through the media. "Controversial characteristics of critical media studies, is its desire to better our social world... critical media studies aims not only to identify political injustices but also to confront and challenge them" (Brian L. Ott and Robert L. Mack, 2010). Trevor Noah is known for breaking down political barriers and twisting it into a comedic performance while still assessing these issues. In this short clip of the Daily Show, Jordan Klepper takes a closer look at a Trump rally and it's supporters. Though many points made by the Trump supporters were terrifyingly entertaining to watch, it comes to show how frivolous they can be.
This video is really telling of the worst aspects of American politics. It would appear that bipartisanship has taken over many people's minds and care more about their party affiliation than what they actually believe in. Or people just listen to everything they see on television, which is scary, considering I'm doing the same thing, as the producers of this segment had to do some serious cherry picking for their interviews.
ReplyDeleteThese videos always horrify and amaze me! It is very interesting to look at a piece of media like this and to think about who is putting these ideas in our heads. Does everything we think come from some form of media? Or are deeper ideas and personal characteristics forming these opinions. As silly as these responses are, it is a majority of these people that got our president voted into office. It is hard to tell if that was caused by media or personal ideas. Or is it all connected??? Ugh.
ReplyDeleteThis video shows a prime example of how politics brings out the worst in people. These people at the Trump rally will literally say anything to make republicans sound good, even when it means reaching far from the truth to get an ignorant point across. People of America need to be more informed, and the media fails now a days at giving the people reliable information, which leads to BS like this.
ReplyDeleteThis video is all that is wrong in American Politics. Voters choosing to focus on the negative aspects of a person that they perceive to be bad and using that as a reason to vote for the other candidate. Personal life is now trumping (no pun intended) policy and President Trump uses people such as these to support his agenda. But it's easy to pick on trump because he is such a big and prominent target but this behavior happens on both sides of the political spectrum.
ReplyDeleteThese type of videos are always so fascinating to me because I just cannot believe that these people are real. I am aware that they are but sometimes it can be very hard to understand how some people can be so ignorant and even be proud of their ignorance. I agree with Joseph that people often focus too much on the negativity instead of focusing on the positive. But this is also what it's amazing about democracy, at the end of the day we all have the right to vote for whoever we want to to think whatever we want, no matter how wrong we are.
ReplyDeleteWhile clips like this might be entertaining to watch it is very telling of our current political landscape. Personally it's shocking that there are people out there who are so ignorant and not only that but unwilling to see their own ignorance. But this is exactly the kind of demographic that Trump and his people thrive on, which is honestly quite sad.
